I'm off and running on another "research" project. I swear sometimes I amaze myself with the number of projects (research or otherwise) that I start, and often don't finish. I suppose that's the benefit of the hypomanic state vs the full blown manic state.
Anyway. So I'm seeing what information I can dig up on CSS and blogging and such on about.com. And I come across a blog that offers up "a few" links to help other bloggers either become better "writers" or how to get a bit more "traffic" to their site.
WTF?!
I don't get this. Well maybe that's my fault. I use this blog for different reasons than many (apparently), and I certainly have a different "target audience," so to speak. I write here for the sole purpose of having somewhere to bitch and complain...Somewhere to unload all of the useless information flying completely disorganized around my bipolar brain...AND to talk about my emotions and my eating issues and all the stuff that I want to communicate without actually verbalizing.
It simply irritates the hell out of me to think that there are people who give advice to others on how to adverwhore themselves online just to get higher in the search engine rankings. Yes, I totally just created a new word. ADVERWHORE. And furthermore, to tell those people how to write a blog post so they don't drive away potential readers. Please. Does one really have to be so egotistical and obviously self-centered to call it a deadly sin if one doesn't have a SUBSCRIBE button on their damn blog? And the best one of all. Does one really need recognition so desperately that they would create a how-to list on how to get more comments?
Look. I am who I am, and I'm not going to pad my words and overthink every letter I type just to make the reader feel better. I'm not going to tone down the controversy or the harshness or the abrasiveness just to tie it all up with a fluffy bow on top. This IS NOT one of those situations where I have to change my content to suit delicate dispositions. Using the analogy of parental concerns over media content...if you don't like it, turn it off. Simple, but apparently, very complicated.
I'm not bagging on any particular person or blog or whatever. I'm railing at the principal of the matter, and I'm quite aware that mine are vastly different than most. And I guess that TF and FL simply reside in a different country in the internet world. I'd like it if the rest of the internet world caught up to that.
